Preparing for GivingTuesday? 5 Things to Do Right Now

GivingTuesday is a natural opportunity to take stock of your fundraising goals, engage your network of supporters, and strengthen the systems that will carry your team through the busy year-end season.

Here are five simple things you can do right now to prepare.

1.    Clean up your data

Start with the information in your fundraising CRM. Check for bounced emails, outdated contact information, and expired payment methods. A cleaner database means fewer missed opportunities when your campaign launches.

2.    Segment your supporters

Your major donors, monthly donors, volunteers, lapsed supporters, and first-time donors shouldn’t all hear from you in exactly the same way. Create a few strategic segments now so you can tailor messages, asks, and follow-up throughout the campaign.

3.    Update your appeals

You don’t have to reinvent your GivingTuesday campaign every year. Review last year’s materials, then update what matters: your goal, impact stories, images, and calls to action. Use what you know about each donor segment to make those messages more relevant.

4.    Optimize your online donation form

Make giving as quick and easy as possible. Review your form on desktop and mobile, remove unnecessary fields, test payment options, and make sure the impact of each gift is clear.

5.    Make it multichannel

Map out how email, social media, text, your website, and peer-to-peer outreach can reinforce one another throughout the day. Give board members, volunteers, and loyal supporters simple messages and links they can share with their own networks.

GivingTuesday can be more than one successful day. With the right planning, it can introduce new supporters, deepen existing relationships, and build momentum for year-end.
