A proud Edmontonian shares her thoughts on having a winning attitude, learning the value of service and indulging in belly laughs.

1. What is your idea of perfect happiness?
Enjoying a restful eight hours of uninterrupted sleep, accompanied by an ocean breeze that gently sways the palm trees. Also, quality moments with my loved ones, indulging in deep belly laughs that leave you aching but wanting more!

2. What is the trait you most deplore in others?
Inauthenticity and insecurity. These traits can be toxic in the workplace, leading to bullying and the exploitation of others.

3. What is your greatest extravagance?
My greatest indulgence this year was shopping at Lululemon with my niece, Vanessa. It’s not just the shopping that makes my heart smile; it’s the joy of spending time together that makes it even better.

4. What is your current state of mind?
I’m feeling calm, peaceful, and empowered. I’m at a stage where I have earned a winning attitude and know I can achieve anything I set my mind to.

5. What is your educational background?
I am a proud graduate of McGill University, where I specialized in Public Relations Management. I also hold a diploma in Social Sciences from Dawson College, focusing on social services. I have completed the prestigious Governance Essential Program for Directors of Not-For-Profit Organizations and am trained in Brené Brown’s transformative Dare to Lead™ methodology. This diverse educational background equips me with the knowledge and skills to make a meaningful impact.

6. What was your first job?
At 15, I worked at the Salvation Army in Montreal, sorting through donated goods in their warehouse. It was a formative experience that taught me the value of service.

7. Which talent would you most like to have?
I would love the ability to make anyone laugh; laughter truly is the best medicine!

8. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
I would go back in time and tell my younger self not to stress over anything because it will all work out according to the master life plan.

9. What do you consider your greatest achievement(s)?
Overcoming childhood trauma and creating a fulfilling life for myself. It shaped who I am today.

10. What is your current favourite charity?
BGC Dawson, formerly known as Dawson Community Centre. I had the privilege of working there in the early '90s, where I managed a government-funded “Stay in School” program for youth. It was my best job ever! Now, thirty years later, BGC Dawson is one of my clients.
