1. What is your idea of perfect happiness?
I have many ideas of ‘perfect’ happiness, and I think it’s important to try to find that each day. Some days it’s sitting uninterrupted with a good book, or it’s catching up with friends, going to the golf course, or hiking in nature with not a human-made sound around.
2. What is the trait you most deplore in others?
Disingenuousness. Everyone does it from time-to-time, but for the most part I think it’s important to try to be honest and present.
3. What is your greatest extravagance?
It has to be golf. I spend a lot of time and money on it. Rounds aren’t cheap, they take a long time, but I just love the game, gear, and tech.
4. What is your current state of mind?
Resilience. I’m trying to lean into the ability to adapt and grow with our ever-changing world.
5. What is your educational background?
Something very different from my current role! I received an Honours Specialization in Biology from Western University, where I focused on Cell Biology and Ecology. Understanding how the body works and what makes a stable ecosystem always fascinated me.
6. What was your first career-related job?
My first job was teaching tennis at 16. I taught kids aged 4-6 and it was a great summer gig! I loved tennis (and still do!). My first full-time career-related job was at Environics Analytics. I was hired as a Support Specialist, helping clients better understand and utilize our data and software. This is still part of my job today; however, I now specifically support the charitable sector. I find it very fulfilling to help these organizations along their data journey.
7. Which talent would you most like to have?
I love music (specifically 60s, 70s, and 80s rock) and I’ve always wished I was a better singer and guitar player. I was lucky enough to see The Rolling Stones in 2019 at Burl’s Creek, and it restoked the fire for this passion. Guitar lessons have been helping, but it’s something I’d like to allocate more time to.
8. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
I tend to expect a lot of myself, and I can be harder on myself than I am on others, so I’m learning to give myself a little more grace.
9. What do you consider your greatest achievement(s)?
My ability to keep in touch with family and good friends. Responsibilities and living in different cities can make it tough, but it’s something that is very important to me.
10. What is your current favourite charity?
I can’t pick a favourite charity! I work with so many great charities and I am constantly amazed by everything they do to support Canadians.
