Conferences are a major investment of time and money. With a limited budget, it is important to get the most from your next conference.
Download the event app
The app will be your source for all the latest and greatest updates as well a great chance to stay on top of last minute changes.
Bring lots of business cards
Conferences are about great educational sessions and networking. A good conference has plenty of opportunities and time for both!
Arrive early
On conference day, be sure to arrive and register before the first session starts. You want to make the most of your investment.
Get social
Find out the event hashtag and follow it on social media. This is a great way to network and meet new people as well as a great chance to build your own profile.
Don’t skip the plenary
Too often people ditch the plenary to call their office. The plenary is your chance to hear wisdom and inspiration from a top speaker. Don’t miss your chance to learn from the best.
Vendors are great resources
While you might initially go the Exhibitor Hall for a much needed coffee, remember that vendors work with charities across Canada and around the world. Vendors are natural networking allies to match to that person you really want to meet.
Ask questions
Learn new industry insights by asking questions. Speakers, vendors, other participants all have lots of great insights to help you.
Take a break
If the hustle of the conference is too much, take a break. Many conferences now have a quiet lounge. Or just take a walk around the block of the conference location.
Have fun
Most conferences have a post conference reception. It is tempting to rush home but why not make the most of your day by hanging out with colleagues? That final reception is a great chance for a last round of networking and to ask more questions.
