We’re talking about it.
All of it.
All things feminism and fundraising.
Ms. Rupt Now is a community of women fundraisers who embrace diversity of thought, experience and opinion, disrupt the status quo, move philanthropy forward and lift each other up.
This International Women’s Day, we are launching Ms. Rupt Now gatherings for women in the Greater Toronto Area and also creating online discussions and spaces open to women everywhere.
Today, we want to share 4 ways women can take action today to support other women.
Lean In Connect with some of the discourse and dialogue on feminism and fundraising. We’ve posted a few on Twitter @msruptnow. Read, ask questions and share. Whether you are posting publicly or sharing resources privately, thank you for connecting to issues of feminism and fundraising. There is no wrong way for you to lean in and learn more!
Reach Out If you’ve experienced abuse or harassment, if you’ve experienced discrimination, we are sorry, and you are not alone. Please reach out. If you have an experience or story you want to talk about, please reach out. Reach out to a woman you trust. If you don’t know where to turn, be brave and reach out to us: msruptnow@gmail.com. We’re here to listen and be a connector to supports for you. Our email account is read and managed respectfully and privately by feminist fundraisers Jen Love and Tania Little. Your stories matter and these conversations matter.
Listen When a colleague opens up to you, create space for her. Just listen. Ask questions and respond in ways that make you feel comfortable. And if you find yourself outside your own comfort zone, try, “I don’t really know what to say but I’m really glad you told me and that you’re talking about it. What do you need now? How can I help you with your next steps?”

Women, watch for upcoming gatherings in the GTA and for online discussions open to women everywhere. If you’re in the GTA and you see a woman wearing a Ms. Rupt pin, that means she is open to hearing your story or having a conversation about feminism and fundraising. Ms. Rupt Now welcomes women and those who identify as women from all ages, races, orientations, backgrounds and abilities. Inclusion is crucial to our mandate and we want to hear from you about how we can best serve you and meet your needs.
Men, we see you. We count on our cherished male allies in our workplaces and in our lives. Thank you for listening and for amplifying our voices. You are welcome to join our public discussion on Twitter. And we trust you understand our wish to keep our Facebook, email list and discussion groups a space created by and for women. We are always open for a discussion on how we can help you organize in your own spaces. But here’s an easy way to start in your own reflections and actions:
“Men who want to be feminist allies do not need to be given a space in feminism. They need to take the space that they have in society and make it feminist.” Thank you Damian O’Broin for sharing this via Kelley Temple quoting Soultired.
So, what can you do today to lift women fundraisers up?
