Kimberley MacKenzieAt the recent International Fundraising Congress in The Netherlands I had the opportunity to sit down and have a conversation with Charity Defense Council Founder and President, Dan Pallotta.

Dan is best known as the author of Uncharitable: How restraints on nonprofits undermine their potential, a book that started a national conversation about how the world needs to think differently about overhead in charities.

Dan is also the creator of the multi day charitable event industry with the AIDS Rides and Breast Cancer 3-Days. As Dan says: “These events changed the landscape of options for or ordinary individuals to make an extraordinary difference. Over three million people donated to these events raising more than $582 million in nine years.”

In this instalment of the In Conversation series I talk to Dan about whether we are making any progress on the administration conversation, how charities can start to change the conversation in their organization and finally how he responds to those who criticize his accomplishments.
