The
Convio Online Marketing
Nonprofit Index Study demonstrates that our addiction to convenience has
migrated from online shopping to online giving.
In 2011, online fundraising grew at 16% compared to 15% for
e-commerce. This is good news for
charities since it shows that donors are increasingly comfortable with giving
online.
Joanne Fritz on About.com details
other noteworthy statistics from the study:
-
Online giving is still growing, although not
as rapidly as it did in 2010.
-
Online fundraising really shines in the
acquisition of new donors, with first time online gifts representing 37% of the
total median online revenue.
-
Small organizations increased their online
giving more than larger charities.
-
Sustainer or recurring online giving grew significantly, with an
increase of 38.7%.
